Many customers of Avivo’s or other providers, or just community members have, over the years, been supported in their time of need. There's been many stories of great thanks and appreciation of the staff members who were able to assist, often with little notice.
We're sad to advise everyone that Avivo will no longer be funded to continue with this valuable service through Home And Community Care (HACC) funding once the HACC program transitions to the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) on 1 July this year. CHSP will only fund Avivo for the provision of planned respite through the My Aged Care referral process.
On June 21 we held an emotional farewell morning tea for all the people involved. Our Crisis program’s success is due to having a team of highly dedicated, passionate and skilled staff on call at any time of day or night and it has been a tough job to have to inform the team of the demise of the program. The unique nature of the program meant that staff have been rewarded and enriched through the difference they have made to people’s lives.
