The Julian Pittendrigh Scholarship helps people develop their creative talents.
The Scholarship is awarded on an annual basis to individuals or groups of people seeking to develop their artistic interests in the fields of Dance, Music, Visual Art or Performance.
Last year's Julian Pittendrigh Art Scholarship winner was Fremantle's Kevin Glover. Kevin's passion is watercolour and works in multi- mixed media. His focus is on capturing light in nature and can often be found painting under one of the gazebos at Leighton Beach. Kevin used the Scholarship money to invest in new equipment and his own development through courses.
Kevin wishes to convey the importance of this scholarship and the value of following a creative passion in the discovery of inner self and wellbeing . He regularly shares his skills with his peers and works alongside the art therapists at the Creative Expression Centre for Arts Therapy (CECAT) in Graylands Hospital.
It was Julian’s wish that each year the Scholarship would move from area to area. This year’s Scholarship will be offered to customers in the Northern River area with submissions due in August.
The Julian Pittendrigh Art Scholarship was established in 2015 and is used to assist Avivo customers to explore and develop their artistic interests.
Funding can be used to support learning and development opportunities which may otherwise be inaccessible via traditional funding sources.
