Veterans’ Home Care support across WA 

At Avivo, we’re proud to support veterans and their families through the Australian Government’s Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Program, designed to help you remain independent at home, with access to practical services tailored to your needs. 

This program offers entry-level, in-home support and is coordinated by trusted providers like Avivo across Perth and Western Australia. 

Who is eligible for Veterans’ Home Care?

You may be eligible if you:

  • Are a veteran or a dependent of a veteran
  • Hold a Veteran Gold Card or Veteran White Card
  • Have been assessed as needing support to remain independent at home

A VHC assessment agency will guide you through a simple process to determine what services you can access.

What support can I receive? 

Based on your assessment, you may be able to access: 

  • Domestic help as required   
  • Up to 1.5 hours per week of personal care 
  • Up to 196 hours of in-home respite care, or 28 days of residential respite care, or a combination (1 day residential = 7 hours in-home) 
  • Up to 216 hours of Emergency Short-Term Home Relief (ESTHR) per financial year 
  • Up to 15 hours of home and garden maintenance per 12-month period 


What does it cost? 

If you’re eligible, the government subsidises most of the cost. Some services may have small contributions depending on your income and the type of service.

In-home support $5 per hour $5 per week 
Personal care $5 per hour $10 per week (If 2hr+ are provided each week)  
Home and garden maintenance $5 per hour $75 per 12-month period 

If you’re unable to afford co-payments, you can apply for a waiver, eligibility criteria apply. 


Your needs might change – and that’s okay 

To make sure your support continues to suit your needs, the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) assessment agency will check in with you every 6 to 9 months for a reassessment. 

If things change in the meantime, your health, living situation or the kind of help you need, you don’t have to wait. You can contact the VHC assessment agency to request an earlier review or contact Avivo to help. 


Need more than basic support? 

The VHC program is designed for low-level everyday support. If you need more comprehensive care, you may be able to access: 

  1. Support at Home – Higher levels of aged care support 
  2. NDIS – For eligible individuals under 65 

Avivo can help coordinate services and ensure there’s no duplication between funding sources.
