Self-funding aged care means you choose and pay for the services you need, without waiting for government programs or subsidies….
Caring for a veteran can be rewarding, but it can also be demanding. Avivo’s Respite for Carers for Veterans gives you time to rest and recharge, while your loved one continues to live well, stay active, and connected to their community.
Delivered under the Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Program, our respite services are tailored to each veteran’s needs — providing support, companionship, and engagement at home or in the community.
The Veterans’ Home Care (VHC) Program offers a range of respite services to give carers a break while ensuring veterans continue to receive the support they need. Carer respite can help maintain independence, provide social connection, and give family carers peace of mind.
A qualified support worker comes to your home to take over the caring role for a short time, allowing the primary carer to rest or attend to other commitments.
Short-term care in an Australian Government-subsidised aged care facility, providing a safe environment while the carer takes a break.
Immediate, short-term in-home support when the carer is suddenly unable to provide care, ensuring the veteran continues to receive essential assistance.
Avivo’s carer respite services are flexible and personalised, designed around each veteran’s needs and interests. Our experienced Support Workers provide compassionate care, helping veterans stay comfortable, engaged, and independent while their carers take time to recharge.

The VHC program helps veterans and war widows/widowers with everyday tasks to keep living at home.
If you can’t wait, or not eligible for funding you can self-fund your in-home support.
If you need additional respite services beyond VHC, there are other programs and pathways available to support carers.
Whether you’re just getting started, looking to switch providers or exploring funding, we’re here to help you navigate your options.
