Carer Gateway

Caring for a family member or friend is meaningful, but it can also be challenging. Carer Gateway is a national program that provides free services and support for carers. At Avivo, we can help you understand what’s available and guide you through the steps to access it.

What is Carer Gateway? 

Carer Gateway is an Australian Government initiative that gives carers access to practical help, advice, and respite. Avivo works alongside you to make sense of the options and ensure you’re supported in a way that fits your life. 

What support can I access?

Through Carer Gateway, and with Avivo’s guidance, you may be able to access: 

Counselling and peer support groups

Carer coaching and skills courses

in home disability support tailored to individual goals and daily living needs

Emergency and planned respite

Help with navigating services and connecting to the right supports

Who is eligible?

Carer Gateway is for anyone who provides unpaid care to a family member or friend who needs extra support because of:

  • Disability
  • Mental ill-health
  • Chronic illness
  • Dementia
  • Frailty due to age

How it works 

When you contact Carer Gateway, you’ll have a planning conversation to talk about your situation and what supports might help. Avivo can be part of this journey, helping you arrange respite, explore options, and stay connected with ongoing support.

You can access Carer Gateway directly by calling 1800 422 737 or visiting carergateway.gov.au. 

If you’d prefer some help, Avivo can guide you through the process. Simply reach out to us, and we’ll support you in finding the right carer respite and services for your situation.
