Family Support Program

Caring for someone with a disability can be rewarding but it can also be tiring. Avivo’s Family Support Program is here to help you take a breath, plan ahead, and access short-term, flexible support – so you can recharge.

What Is the Family Support Program?

This program provides short-term, flexible support for unpaid carers of people with a disability. It is designed to give carers time to rest, reconnect, and feel supported. 

What support can I access?

Every family’s situation is different. That’s why our Family Support Program offers flexible, short-term options to give you space to breathe, rest, and refocus. 

You may be able to access: 

Support Worker hours (up to 12 weeks)

Short-term respite

Carer wellbeing events and workshops

Guidance from our Family Support Team to explore local and community options

Who is eligible?

If you’re based anywhere in Western Australia, you may be eligible if:

  • You’re a primary carer of someone under 65 with a permanent disability
  • The person you care for has NDIS, but carer respite is not part of the plan.
  • They have a condition such as ASD, intellectual disability, ABI, neurological or physical disability

How it works 

Family Support is short-term (up to 12 weeks) and flexible. It’s not for long-term ongoing support, but designed to give carers a break when they need it most. Every request is considered individually, based on your family’s needs.
