Getting the right aged care support can make daily life easier, safer, and more enjoyable, but knowing where to start isn’t always easy. That’s where we come in.
If you’re over 65 (or 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people), you may be eligible for government-funded aged care services. Whether you’re just starting to explore your options or ready to get support in place, Avivo is here to guide you through each step.
Your journey begins with an Aged Care assessment, which helps determine the type and level of support that’s right for you. Depending on your needs, you may access the care outlined below.
Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) Entry-level support to stay independent | Support at Home (SaH) More ongoing or complex care, tailored to you. | Self-Funded Care Get started right away — no waitlists. |
|---|---|---|
| CHSP is ideal if you’re managing day-to-day but could use a little help around the home. It offers a small number of support hours each week for services like cleaning, gardening, transport, or meal preparation. Best for: Seniors who are mostly independent but need a little extra support. How to access: Apply through My Aged Care for an assessment. | Support at Home provides more regular and coordinated support for those who need help with everyday tasks, personal care, or more complex needs like nursing, therapy, or recovery after a hospital stay. Best for: People needing consistent, flexible support to remain safely at home. How to access: Apply through My Aged Care, and receive a funding level based on your care needs. | If you’re not eligible for government funding or want to begin services immediately, self-funded care gives you full flexibility and control. You choose the services you want and pay as you go. Best for: People waiting for funding, needing short-term help, or wanting full flexibility. How to access: Contact Avivo directly and we’ll set it up with you. |
