What is the Commonwealth Home Support Programme? 

The Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) is a government-funded initiative that provides entry-level support to help older Australians live independently at home. It’s designed for people who need just a little help with daily tasks — not ongoing or complex care. 

CHSP is a great starting point if you’re waiting for Support at Home or only need occasional support.

Who is eligible?

You may be eligible for CHSP if you:

  • Are aged 65 or older (or 50+ if you’re Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander)
  • Live at home and need occasional or entry-level support
  • Are not already receiving a Home Care Package

    Get assessed

    A Regional Assessment Service (RAS) will determine your needs

  3. 03

    Receive approval

    You’ll receive a referral code for receiving supports

  4. 04

    Choose provider

    At Avivo we’ll help to maximise your plan

    Plan your personalised support

    A Service Coordinator will develop a support plan

  6. 06

    Begin support

    Your Support Worker starts

  7. 07

    Regular reviews

    Adjust your services if your needs change
